Leading one-way trip pallet pool specialist, IPP Logipal, has expanded its client portfolio in the confectionery sector after securing a new contract with Swizzels Matlow Limited.

Swizzels Matlow products include the iconic Love HeartsA family business with over 600 employees based on the edge of the Peak District at New Mills in Derbyshire, Swizzels Matlow is a traditional confectionery manufacturer.

The original company was formed over 80 years ago and it’s most famous product is the iconic Love Hearts sweets - each year the company makes one billion tablets with over 200 different messages on them.

Other popular brands of sweets include Parma Violets, Rainbow Drops, Double Dip, Drumstick Lollies, Snap & Crackle and Refreshers.

Faced with issues surrounding the quality and availability of pallets used to transport its products within the supply chain to retail customers and wholesalers across the country, Swizzels Matlow appointed IPP Logipal as its new pallet solution provider.

IPP Logipal’s simple one-way trip pallet service is used to deliver a wide range of confectionery products from the New Mills manufacturing facility to major supermarket retailers, wholesalers and convenience stores across the UK.

Around 50,000 pallets trips are made per annum.

Once utilised, pallet collections are arranged by IPP Logipal, with inspections carried out matched to KPI (key performance indicator) criteria, ensuring Swizzels Matlow receives consistently high-quality pallets.

Swizzels Matlow’s supply chain manager comments: “We needed to appoint a good quality, reliable pallet supply chain partner to ensure the distribution of our goods was carried out to the highest standards.

“IPP Logipal’s one-way trip service produces a cost effective solution and includes quality control checks to a set of KPI criteria.”
